Aromatherapy – a Complementary Medicine to the Emotions
Induce relaxation to the senses and emotions with aromatherapy. |
According to the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH), Aromatherapy is the use of essential oils from plants to support and balance the mind, body, and spirit. It is considered a complementary medicine – meaning it can complement other conventional medicine treatments.
With most ailments, there are usually underlying emotional issues that if one were to map out when the onset or inflammation within the body occurs - one would clearly see why the body becomes weak at certain times in life. Aromatherapy can support and balance the emotions at this time – using therapeutic essential oils that help to promote positivity and clarity (grapefruit, mandarin, lemon, geranium, and lavender) on a daily basis. This will help the patient undergoing conventional treatment to feel calm, grounded, relaxed, and uplifted.
Refer patients to a professional aromatherapist who: have interest in complementary medicine, are stressed, have anxiety, need emotional support, have sleep problems, and suffer from pain. Pediatric patients also respond well to subtle aromatherapy.
Remember that simply diffusing or vaporizing aromatherapy oils in a medical office can be effective at uplifting the mood for you and your patients.Aromatherapy is ideal for waiting rooms in: Dental/Medical offices, Cosmetic Surgery centers, Psychiatric centers, Cancer center, Pediatric centers, Rehabilitation centers, Nurses stations, and Spas. It can energize, promote positivity, and create a calm atmosphere within the space.
